Girl who attempted suicide in TVM University College gets nod for college transfer
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala University has granted permission for transfer of college to the girl student who attempted suicide in University College here. The girl had requested to allow her continue studies in another college. Following this, the University Syndicate meeting was convened on May 25 and allowed the girl a transfer to SN College in Varkala.
The girl was also allowed to appear for the examinations which she could not attend earlier. The university authorities has informed the same to the controller of examination and registrar. The girl who is presently a student of second semester has been allotted admission to third semester in Varkala SN College.
The order issued by the university has also directed to change her centre of second semester examinations to SN College. The girl had requested to allow her to continue studies from first year as she could not study satisfactorily. However, the university has granted admission only from second year class.
The girl had attempted suicide on May 3 alleging that classes are not regularly conducted in University College. Also she pointed out in the suicide note that student union leaders compelled her to attend party programmes during exam time and the teachers also failed to take classes on time.
