Girl suffers heart attack: Ambulance travels from Kattappana to Ekm in 2 hrs 39 mins

Kochi: An ambulance successfully transported a 17-year-old girl who suffered a heart attack from St John Hospital in Kattappana to Amrita Hospital in Edapally on Thursday.

By covering 132 km in 2 hours 39 minutes, the ambulance (KL-06 H 9844) reached Edappally in Ernakulam successfully through a combined operation of various officials, the public and the traffic department. Normally it takes more than four hours to cover this route.

The decision to shift the girl, Ann Maria, was taken at St John Hospital after her condition worsened on Wednesday. Following this, the ambulance left the hospital at 11:37 am and reached Amrita Hospital by 2:17 pm. Meanwhile, Minister Roshy Augustine requested the public and concerned authorities to ensure the safe passage of the ambulance. He also accompanied the ambulance to Kochi.

It is learned that the girl is under observation for the next 72 hours.
