Girl killed as train hits her while rushing for school bus in Kannur

Kannur: A Plus One student died after she was hit by a train while crossing the railway track here. The girl was in a hurry to board the school bus parked on the other side of the track after getting out of her car.

The tragic incident happened on Saturday at around 7.45 am. The deceased has been identified as Nanditha, a Plus One student at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Kakkad, Kannur. Nanditha was hit by Prasuram Express heading to Kannur.

One of the witnesses said that the girl had crossed the rail, but fell back when her bag got stuck to the train. The tragedy befell when many people, including her mother, were standing on the other side of the railway gate. Though the locals rushed her to the hospital, she could not be saved.

Nanditha was the daughter of Lisy and late Kishore. Kishore had succumbed to an illness years ago.
