Kavyamol
Kottayam: A class 6 student got lost in strong currents on a flooded road while walking with her friend in Poonjar here. The girl named Kavyamol, a student of SMV Higher Secondary School in Panachippara was washed away by the strong currents on the flooded road in front of the school.
The accident took place around 4 pm when the girl was returning home with her friend after school. The locals rescued her from a distance as far as 50 metres. She was taken to her house after being given primary medical care.
A huge danger was averted as the girl was rescued before she landed in the culvert below the road. The visuals of the incident were recorded on the CCTV camera installed in a nearby house. The Meenachil river is situated only 25 meters away from the spot where the incident took place. An unfortunate event was averted by the timely intervention of local residents.
