Girl, assaulted by ‘moral police’ at Azheekal beach, receives threat

Kollam: A girl, who was assaulted by ‘moral police’ at Azheekal beach in Kollam last month, has alleged that she received threat over phone.

The person, who contacted her father over phone, threatened that the girl would be killed if she fails to back off from the case.

The girl and her friend were attacked by a group of people on February 14, the Valentine's day, while they were sitting at Azheekal beach.

Her friend, 22-year-old Aneesh, was later found hanging from a tree near his house at Attappady.

In his suicide note, Aneesh had named two persons.

Prior to this, alleging that he was being insulted through social media, Aneesh had also lodged a complaint with the police. His relatives had alleged that the humiliation over the incident drove him to suicide.

Against this backdrop, the girl has received threats.
