Bruises on complainant's body
Kozhikode: A woman in Kozhikode has been booked by the Kozhikode Medical College police for allegedly assaulting a young girl at an institution dedicated to differently abled persons. The incident has prompted the mother of the 21-year-old victim to file a complaint against the accused teacher, identified as Sainaba from Kuttikatoor.
The mother of the victim had admitted her daughter to the institution for differently abled persons in Kuttikattoor on May 1. The institution authorities informed the mother that she was not required to pay the fee and instead advised her to seek a sponsor. However, when the mother brought her daughter home after two weeks of staying in the institution, she noticed bruises on her body. She immediately lodged a complaint at the Medical College police station.
Given that the girl is mute, the police recorded her statement in sign language with the assistance of an interpreter. The investigation team reported that the girl had been subjected to brutal beatings with a stick during her time at the institution.
According to the mother, she had admitted the girl to the institution to attend courses for the differently abled persons and attain certain training in life skills. She complained that the authorities did not allow to meet her daughter when she reached the institution following a week of admission. When the girl was allowed to return with her mother, the teacher held back the girl’s bag and misbehaved, alleged the mother.
