Get ready to send audio clips over voice call to a group, BSNL to launch new service
Thrissur: Amid the COVID-19 lockdown, BSNL has come up with a unique facility to help people invite guests for marriage and other programmes. BSNL will launch a new service allowing customers to send voice messages recorded on their smartphone to a group of people. It is for the first time, a group calling facility will be launched in India. According to reports, this facility will be officially launched within two months.
The group calling facility, a mobile app-based service is developed by mobile service centre for enterprise team in Ernakulam BSNL section.

At present, BSNL provides group calling facility to individuals and business enterprises. But to avail this service, the customers have to visit enterprise business cell. They should make a payment and submit the list of contacts which should be connected via group call. An audio file of the message should be filed for the facility.
But the new service empowers the customer to directly send a voice message to many people using a mobile app.

The voice message should be recorded and uploaded on the mobile app. Later, phone numbers of the people who should receive the call should be selected from the contact list. When we click on the submit button, all people in the selected list of contacts will receive the call. When they pick up the call, they will be able to hear the message in the sender’s voice. This process is called as call pumping. People who were unable to answer the call will automatically get another call within few minutes.
The customer will receive a report of this group call. It will include details of numbers which were connected and those who failed to connect.
Under this facility, BSNL customers can send voice message like a phone a call to multiple contacts without any limit.
A phone call will not get engaged while processing the group call. Normal rate of a call (under Re 1) will be charged for each number which is connected to the group call. No charge will be levied for phone numbers which were not connected.
Customers are allowed to make payments of group call as post-paid and pre-paid.
BSNL has provided the group calling facility to Supplyco to collect details of the people who donate free kit.
The success of this service inspired BSNL to launch it as a new service to all.

The officials will verify the voice clip on matters including national security. The customer will be permitted for call pumping once the voice message is approved. BSNL will examine whether messages of business groups are adhering to TRAI guidelines.
