Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI has decided to publically censure Minister K Raju for taking a trip to Germany while the state reeled under heavy floods.

Addressing a news conference, CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran said that K Raju should have pondered whether it was necessary to participate in the programme in Germany when the state was reeling under floods.

The State Executive evaluated that K Raju's action of going to Germany at the time of floods was inappropriate. Hence, it has been decided to publically censure K Raju, Kanam said.

"As soon as reports came of K Raju's visit to Germany to inaugurate a programme, he was told to return. He went to Germany after completing the procedures. The permissions were obtained before the floods. However, the floods happened very soon. The minister should have thought whether it was necessary to participate in a programme abroad when the state reeled under floods," Kanam said.
