Kochi: The operations of mafia gangs producing forged certificates of the revenue department have intensified in the state. District collectors have ordered probes in Palakkad and Ernakulam to curtail the fraudulent activities proceeding mainly via online service centres. Though vigilance has received information regarding the online service centres which generate fake documents, including income certificates, no action proceeded yet.
The state government issues certificates through the e-district portal. The applicants can receive the certificate from the nearby approved online service providers without visiting the governmental offices. The decision over the significant certificates in the revenue department has been carried out by the village officers. The village officers examine the applications and approve them in digital form itself.
The forged certificates are reportedly produced by certain online service centres with fake seal and QR codes. The income certificate obtained from an online service centre turned fake when the QR code in it was scanned. In another case, the Muthalamada grama panchayat in Palakkad found that a possession certificate submitted to the panchayat was fake. A criminal case has been registered regarding this case.
Several welfare pensions have been stalled, when police found that forged income certificates and Life certificates are being distributed at an online service centre in Koottanad.
At least 15 days will take for the applicants to receive certificates related to revenue department following the scrutiny of submitted documents.
