Police examining the explosives seized from train

Kozhikode: A huge amount of explosives was seized from Kozhikode railway station on Friday morning. A total of 117 gelatine sticks and 350 detonators were seized from Chennai-Mangaluru Superfast Express. A lady passenger was taken into custody in connection with the incident.

The explosives were found in a bag kept under the seat of D1 compartment. Palakkad RPF special squad seized the explosives between Tirur and Kozhikode stations.

A passenger identified as Thiruvannamalai native Ramani was taken into custody. The explosive was found from under the seat where she was sitting. The RPF and Police special branch are interrogating her.

The woman had a ticket to travel from Katpadi to Thalassery. She told police that she was taking the explosives for digging wells in Thalassery.
