Kochi: At a time when the state machinery is trying to extinguish the fire that broke out at the Brahmapuram waste plant, the Kochi residents face another trouble. The fire at the plant has disrupted waste management and many complained that garbage heaps are piling up on the roadsides.

The authorities concerned are looking for alternative arrangements, but locals allege the latter is not seen as very proactive in resolving it.
According to locals, if the waste issue is not solved immediately, then it will lead to issues like epidemics and stray dog menace.

Meanwhile, locals on Sunday reportedly interceded lorries carrying waste to the Brahmapuram plant. The public asked the vehicle drivers to go back with the load and protested. They claimed that the scientific processing of waste is disrupted by fire and dumping will cause health issues. Kochi Corporation intervened and assured needful action will be taken.
