Gangrape of Malayali student in TN: 6 arrested, survivor undergoing treatment

Chennai: The girl who was gang-raped in Tamil Nadu’s Kanchipuram has been identified as a Malayali student. Police have arrested six in connection with the case, while the survivor has been undergoing treatment.

The incident took place on Thursday evening. The girl and her friend were talking to each other when two of the accused approached them. The accused beat up her friend and dragged her to the bushy stretch nearby. She was brutally raped by the two accused. Later, four others reached the spot and they too sexually assaulted her, said reports.

They left and after the incident, the girl and her friend took to the police station and lodged a complaint. The girl had been severely injured and is currently undergoing treatment.

Five of the accused were arrested the other day and the sixth person was taken into custody on Sunday morning. The accused are Manikandan, Vimal, Sivakumar, Thennarasu, and Vighnesh.

According to officials, the accused hit the ground and got injured while trying to escape from them.
