Four arrested in Rs 75,000 GPay fraud in Malappuram

Malappuram: Pandikkad police arrested four individuals for stealing a hotelier’s mobile phone and siphoning off Rs 75,000 through G Pay transfer.

The incident happened on May 23. Muraleedharan Poolamanna, who owns Gayathri Hotel in Pandikkad here, fell prey to the act. Muhammad Irfan, a former employee of the hotel, managed to get the G Pay PIN of Muraleedharan and he stole his phone. Irfan in two transactions transferred Rs 75,000 to the account of Angadipuram native Muhammad Shariq, said police.

Shariq and Irfan were arrested, and from them only it came to light that 36-year-old Siyadh, a native of Amakkad is the master brain behind the crime. Siyadh was on the run and was nabbed from Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiri. According to police, Siyadh is a history-sheeter. Officials said he has been booked in seven cases under Pandikkad station limit itself. Another accused Abdul Haq too has been arrested in connection with the crime.
