Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Police Chief issued a notice to circle inspector PR Sunu, an accused in the Thrikkakara gang rape case, asking him to appear and submit an explanation on Tuesday by 11 am.

The accused has been directed to arrive at the police chief’s chamber and file an explanation detailing why he should not be expelled from service.

Though a notice was issued earlier, Sunu approached the administrative tribunal. The tribunal asked him to submit an explanation within a week. Following this, Sunu sent his explanation to the police chief via email on December 31. However, the police chief has recently directed the accused to appear personally at the former’s chamber and give the explanation.
