Gadgil stirred up anxieties in minds of residents of hilly regions, slams Forest Minister

AK Saseendran

Kozhikode: Minister for Forest and Wildlife Protection AK Saseendran alleged that people like Madhav Gadgil terrified the residents of hilly regions. Minister flayed Gadgil's report of stirring up anxieties in the minds of farmers residing in Western Ghats regions.

Actions have to be taken to bring about a balance, instead of culling animals, said Saseendran. “Both humans and animals have their own rights. We should not forget both are the creations in this world,” he added.

On Wednesday, Madhav Gadgil had sparked a fresh controversy by suggesting culling of tigers in Wayanad as a remedy for the rising human-animal conflict.

The Minister said that the Department of Forest has undertaken the biggest mission of capturing the elephant PT7 in Palakkad. He also asserted to adopt resistance in the Vythiri model against the animal attacks in the state.
