G. Sudhakaran’s ‘Putana’ statement in Aroor creates controversy
Alappuzha: With assembly polls round the corner, state Public Works Department (PWD) minister G. Sudhakaran created controversy with a statement against the United Democratic Front (UDF) candidate in Aroor here on Friday.
In what seemed to be reference against Shanimol Usman, G. Sudhakaran said that “Aroor was not a constituency for ‘Putanas’ (a demoness in Hinduism who is killed by the infant-god Krishna) to win.” The minister also alleged that UDF was trying to secure victory using crocodile tears and lies.
G. Sudhakaran made the statement while speaking at a family meeting in Thycattussery. “Even when he lost the polls for 38,000 votes last time, C. R. Jayaprakash did not seek votes using lies. Now, they (UDF) have brought some friends from Ernakulam to spread lies,” the minister said.
G. Sudhakaran wondered how Shanimol Usman, who says that no development is taking place in Aroor, will bring development to the constituency. He added that Aroor needed another MLA from the Left Democratic Front (LDF).
