G Sudhakaran
Kochi: CPM veteran and former minister G Sudhakaran has again requested state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan to exclude him from the state committee. Sudhakaran submitted his request in writing. He had sent a letter on the matter earlier too. Besides, he had sent his request to CM Pinarayi Vijayan as well.
Following the assembly elections last year, Sudhakaran had faced a tough time in the party as his colleagues accused him of attempting to sabotage the win of H Salam from Ambalapuzha, the former forte of Sudhakaran. The enquiry committee of state secretariat members found faults on his part. The state committee publicly censured him following this.
However, political observers said the move is tactical as state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has already stated that the age bar of 75 will be implemented strictly this year in the selection of the new committee. Sudhakaran turns 76 this November.
