Thiruvananthapuram: As the price of diesel, petrol and LPG continued to rise, kerosene prices also started to shoot up. The price has been hiked by Rs 8 and touched Rs 55 on Tuesday. The wholesale rate has been increased by Rs 6.70. As per the reports, the kerosene price has touched a record high for the first time in history.
The companies will charge the revised rate from November. Priority and non-priority ration cardholders have to pay the new price while purchasing kerosene.
The base rate of kerosene has been Rs 45. However, the additional charge of Rs 10 includes dealer commission, transportation cost and 2.5 percent GST of both the centre and state.
The petrol rate has hiked by 37 paise on Tuesday. The cost of petrol rose by Rs 8.86 and diesel by Rs 10.33 from September 24. With this, the petrol rate at Thiruvananthapuram is Rs 112.41 on Tuesday.
The cost of LPG for commercial use (19 kg) soared by Rs 268 on the last day and the rate of domestic cylinders (14.2 kg) continued as Rs 906.50. Within this year, the cost of commercial cylinders witnessed a surge of Rs 400 and Rs 205 in the case of domestic cylinders. The price of CNG has also increased and touched Rs 70.
