Alappuzha: People who know ASI Sudheer will definitely agree that pre-degree is not a lower qualification. Though Sudheer completed only pre-degree, his expertise in computer amazes even cyber experts. If an offender used a mobile phone, Sudheer will trap him for sure. He has developed a software all by himself to trace the millions of phone calls made by offenders.
When the accused in the Karuvatta bank robbery case were nabbed, Sudheer became more confident. He had a major role in solving about 34 cases including the murder of a law student in Perumbavoor. The 45-year-old police officer has also obtained 40 good service entries.
Sudheer develops software to suit the requirement of each case. Then he keeps contact with the probe team members and asks them to share even the minute details of the case. He starts searching the phone calls after collecting these information.
After pre-degree, Sudheer used to sell fish to help his father as they belonged to a financially backward family. Meanwhile, he spent his free time in front of the computer in Punnapra and gradually learned its tricks. In 1995, he surprised the locals by displaying the exam result of students in a parallel college if they enter their register number.
Amid hardships and struggles, Sudheer passed the very first PSC exam he appeared and became a police officer. His special interest in investigation was noticed by ADGP Ananthakrishnan and IG S Sreejith. With this, they sought his help in solving many cases.
Sudheer was the pet of late forensic expert Dr Umadathan. He had mentioned Sudheer's name in the first chapter of his book 'Kapalam'. Sudheer also maintains a friendship with cyber expert Vinod Bhattathiri. He currently works in a special team headed by Alappuzha district police chief P S Sabu.
Sudheer's wife Shamna is a nurse and works in the COVID First-Line Treatment Centre in Punnapra. After 17 years of waiting, the couple have twin children named Afthab and Amna Fathima.
