From deputy collector to asst prof, Kerala reserves 4% of 654 posts for differently-abled people

Thiruvananthapuram: The social justice department of Kerala has sanctioned four per cent of reservation for differently-abled in 654 posts in the state service, said minister R Bindu.

The reservation was increased from there to four per cent as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Later, an expert committee under the department prepared a list of 654 posts suitable for differently-abled individuals.

People with blindness, low vision, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, locomotor disability, muscular dystrophy, specific learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, mental behaviour issues and multiple disabilities, leprosy cured persons and acid attack survivors will get the benefit of this.

The posts include deputy collector, assistant engineer, assistant professor among others.

Earlier, four per cent reservation was also allowed in 49 common categories.
