Thiruvananthapuram: CPM leadership received a complaint against DYFI Thiruvananthapuram district vice-president S Shahin for allegedly misappropriating the fund collected in the name of deceased CPM leader P Biju. The complaint noted that the Rs 5 lakh gathered from the public had not been handed over to the district committee yet. DYFI area committees have jointly lodged the complaint.

The fund was collected for establishing a 'Red Care Centre' and an ambulance service at Govt Medical College. DYFI Palayam area committee had led the fund collection as per the guidelines of the CPM district committee.

It is learnt that the party workers could raise Rs 11 lakhs, and Rs 5 lakhs from this was set aside for buying an ambulance. DYFI activists alleged that Shahin had misappropriated this amount. Shahin, who was a local secretary then, was entrusted with the money.
