Kochi: Former Pathanamthitta district president of Kerala Congress (Joseph) and UDF district chairman Victor T Thomas joined the BJP on Sunday. State president K Surendran and state-in-charge Prakash Javadekar were present at the event.

Victor Thomas accused the UDF of being united only for stabbing in the back. "Those who could not even become panchayat members wanted to contest in the Assembly election. They defeated me. States can be satisfied only if there is a strong government at the centre. It requires Narendra Modi's strong leadership," he said.

Victor quit Kerala Congress last Monday. He said that the party was under the control of some leaders. He claimed that there are no consultations in the UDF in the district and ordinary workers are unable to work for the party.

He was the UDF district chairman for 20 years. Victor was also Kozhencherry panchayat president for 10 years. He contested the Thiruvalla assembly constituency twice but lost.
