Former Miss Kerala mishap: Hotel owner quizzed; DVR handed over to police
Kochi: Roy Vayalat, the owner of 'No. 18' hotel at Fort Kochi, appeared before the Ernakulam South police for questioning regarding the death of former Miss Kerala Ansi Kabeer, runner up Anjana Shajan and their friend. He handed over the missing DVR to the police.
The inquiry team headed by C I Ananthalal is looking for crucial information regarding what happened on the day of the accident. Roy arrived at the station on Tuesday by 10 am.
Earlier, the police had discovered that the DVR containing the CCTV visuals of the DJ party which the deceased had attended was missing from the hotel. One of the restaurant employee told police that Roy had ordered to remove it.
Police said one more DVR is still to be located. Roy has agreed to surrender that as well, sources said.
An Audi car was spotted chasing the car of Ansi and Anjana, from the restaurant. The police have already summoned Saiju, the driver of the Audi car. He said that he wanted to warn them as Ansi and her friends were drunk and overspeeding.
After the car crashed, one person from the Audi car had stepped out and inspected the accident scene. His friends too arrived at the scene in other vehicles. The police have received information that they stood at a distance, observed the scene and fled from the location.
It is suspected that Roy, owner of the ‘No 18’ hotel, was in the gang which visited the accident spot. He failed to appear before the police when he was summoned first. Police are investigating whether these people had attended the DJ party and the probability of a clash between them.
