Kochi: Former High Court Chief Justice Vinod Kumar Bali (77) passed away at his home in Chandigarh on Saturday. He has served as the chief justice of Kerala High Court from January 22, 2006 till January 24, 2007.

VK Bali has also served as the chairperson of the Central Administrative Tribunal. The Kerala HC’s golden jubilee was celebrated during his tenure as chief justice.

Born in Pakistan in 1945, Bali and his family migrated to Punjab during the partition. He became a judge in Punjab Haryana High Court in 1991 and was transferred to Rajasthan High Court in 2005.

He is survived by his wife Kusum Bali, daughter Charu Bali, an ADGP rank officer in Haryana Police, and his son Puneet Bali, a senior advocate.
