Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM state secretariat has approved the recommendation to suspend former Devikulam MLA S Rajendran from the primary membership of the party for one year.
The Idukki district committee had earlier decided to suspend Rajendran for his alleged anti-CPM activities. As part of the procedure, the decision was handed over to the state secretariat later and this has now been approved by the secretariat. The action was deferred due to party conventions.
The main allegation against Rajendran was that he tried to defeat the current MLA, A Raja, of Devikulam in the 2021 Assembly elections. The CPM Inquiry Commission had found this to be true. He is also blamed for not being attentive and cooperative in party conventions and other events.
