Former CPM Konni local secretary commits suicide; family blames party
Pathanamthitta: Former CPM local secretary of Konni area, Omanakuttan (48), was found hanging near his home on Wednesday morning. The reason for suicide is not clear.
Omanakuttan's family has alleged that the party was responsible for his suicide. His wife Radha told Mathrubhumi News that he was under constant threat by the party.
He was threatened after the LDF candidate lost in ward number 15 of Konni Gram Panchayat during the LSG Polls. The party tried to assault him a few days back. They even threatened to kill him. His wife also said that he was seen as an enemy by the party workers.
Certain leaders had alleged that Omanakuttan was responsible for the party’s loss in the election. Radha claimed that Omanakuttan locked himself in his room for the past couple of days as he was accused of something that he did not do.
Meanwhile, Konni area secretary Syamlal denied allegations raised by Omanakuttan’s family. He said that he was unaware of any issues that the party leadership had with Omanakuttan. He also said that he assured both Omanakuttan and Radha that he would look into the issue when they approached him.
