Wadakkanchery: Afforestation efforts will soon begin at the 175 hectares of forest land acquired from Hindustan NewsPrint in Kottambathur following an incident of a wildfire.

The government retained the forest land of 475.50 hectares from HNL due to the lapses in conservatory measures. Wadakkanchery range forest officer G Danik Lal informed that the forest department could carry out natural afforestation in 100 hectares of land here within the past two years.

200 hectares of this region carries acacia trees planted by HNL. The department is aiming to grow fruit trees in the remaining 175 hectares of land.

By establishing the Poongode forest station, the department successfully assured better conservation of the afforested region.
