Thiruvananthapuram: In the light of the recent arrest of PC George, CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala is not a place where one can just blabber anything as one wishes. He also remarked that all kinds of speech aimed at triggering communalism are treated in the same way and that the forces fuelling such speeches will not be allowed to grow in Kerala.

CM also commented on the Alappuzha 'child sloganeering' incident. He said the kid did not know the consequence of the slogan he shouted. CM added that both majoritarian and minoritarian communalism are equally dangerous.

PC George was arrested in Kochi as the court cancelled his bail on Wednesday. The magistrate court observed that the hate speech of PC George in Vennala in Kochi was a clear violation of the bail conditions and cancelled his bail.

The former MLA, who was arrested on May 1 in relation to his controversial speech against Muslims at Ananthapuri Hindu Mahasabha ‘Mahasammelan', obtained bail from the magistrate of Vanjiyoor court Asha Koshi on the same day. George was informed that he was granted bail under the conditions of not repeating any similar hate speeches or attempting to influence the witnesses in the case.

A week after, another case was registered against him by Palarivattom police on charges of hate speech over his remarks during a speech, which he delivered in connection with a temple festival at Vennala here on May 8.

The Thiruvananthapuram magistrate court, while hearing the plea of the government to cancel the bail, stated that George violated the bail condition within ten days of obtaining bail. It further stated that the Vennala speech is a continuation of the hate speech in Thiruvananthapuram.

Meanwhile, in the Alappuzha sloganeering case, the police recorded the arrest of two Popular Front leaders.
