For how long will CM safeguard culprits, asks Ramesh Chennithala
Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of Opposition Ramesh Chennithala asked the Chief Minister for how long he will safeguard the culprits by stating that the allegations are cooked up stories.
Stating that Pinarayi Vijayan was assisting corruption, Chennithala said that CM was cheating the highly literate people of Kerala.
The CM cannot escape by stating that the media are coming up with fake stories each day. It is absurd that the CM, who should explain about what the media has brought out, is alleging that they are cooked up stories. The involvement of ministers, their children, the party secretary and his son is clear. If the CM goes on like this, he would say that even the sun rising and setting are illusions, the Congress leader stated.
The CM is justifying K. T. Jaleel. Pinarayi Vijayan is taking matters lightly by stating that the Enforcement Directorate summoned the Higher Education Minister to clarify doubts. The CM is not serious despite a minister violating protocol and committing a crime. The people must take this seriously, the Congress leader said.
If the ED had summoned him to seek clarification, why did Jaleel appear before the officials in secret. If Jaleel had nothing to hide, he could have gone to the ED office in his official vehicle. He could have explained the situation to the media immediately after the questioning was completed, he added.
Chennithla said that the CM was not serious about minister E. P. Jayarajan’s wife accessing her bank locker. The CM is asking what's the big deal with the minister’s wife, who was a senior manager at the bank, having a locker there. The question is why she had to access the locker at a time when her COVID-19 sample was collected and was asked to remain under quarantine, Chennithala said.
The UDF leader further said that the incident took place at a time when there were reports of the minister’s son accepting commission in the Life Mission project.
Chennithala went on to say that the CM, who should probe into the allegations against his cabinet members and inform the public about reality, was hiding the facts.
Chennithala also criticised the government for using force to suppress protesters. The people of Kerala will not approve the government’s policy of dealing with protesters using guns and lathis, he added.
