Thrissur: Former Indian football team captain IM Vijayan has quashed all rumours of contesting the Assembly polls. He said that he is still a footballer in the minds of Keralites and will not enter politics.
There were reports that IM Vijayan would contest the election and moves were made by both Congress and BJP. Vijayan had confirmed that political parties had approached him. However, he stated that he does not want to represent a single party alone.
Vijayan said that these discussions take place every year and he is friendly to all from UDF, LDF and the BJP. “Everybody looks at me as a football player. That is what I also want. That is the reason I receive so much love from the public. That is all I need,” he added.
