Food grains kit for 87 lakh families, free ration for all from April 1: Minister Thilothaman
Thiruvananthapuram: State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies P. Thilothaman on Monday said that food grains kit as announced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be distributed to 87 lakh families through 1,600 outlets.
Addressing media, he also said that the state has begun procedures to procure food grains required for the next three months.
“Free ration will be distributed from April 1. The 15 kg rice as offered by the state should be bought before April 20. After that steps will be taken to bring food grains as offered by the centre. The free ration distribution will be in the morning for those included in priority list and in the afternoon for those in non-priority list.”
“Ration will be distributed for those without ration cards also. The senior member of the family needs to give an affidavit for it mentioning their Aadhaar ID number and phone number. Also those who don’t want the kit can return it to the government,” he added.
Only five people can assemble at the ration shop at a time. They should maintain physical distance. Volunteers or public representatives should be helping out at the ration shops. Also for those who can’t come to the shops to collect ration, arrangements will be made to deliver it at home, the minister further said.
