Flood victims to get home appliances at low cost
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government is preparing a scheme to make available home appliances for low cost to the flood victims in the state. The government asked in a meeting of company representatives that they should provide the appliances for half price.
It is demanded that a reduction should be allowed to those who purchase the home appliances with loans taken from Kudumbashree. The meeting of company representatives was convened by Confederation of Indian Industries and was chaired by minister E. P. Jayarajan.
Eleven companies including Whirlpool, Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, Ammini Solar, Godrej, Hykon, V-Guard and Vallimani Industries participated in the meeting. The company heads assured that they will inform about the price reduction after discussing the matter in their high level meeting.
A total of 1.24 lakh persons had applied for loans. They will be provided the amount through ‘Ayalkkoottam’, when the loan is sanctioned. Also they will be informed of the details of the appliances, discount rates and the purchase centres.
A card stamped with hologram, which cannot be handed over to anyone else will be distributed to each person. The family member who go to purchase the products with this card and a photo identity card will be given the home appliances for reduced rate.
The scheme is designed in a way that enable the people to purchase the products for reduced rate from October first week to October 31. Secretary of Industries Department Sanjay M. Kaul and Kudumbashree Executive Director Harikishore have attended the meeting.
