Flood likely in Kerala this year too, predicts Ministry of Earth Sciences

Considering the statistics of the last 10 years, the chances of flood is only increasing. It can be expected this year also.

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Earth Sciences has stated that Kerala is likely to experience flood this year too. Secretary to the ministry Dr M Rajeevan told Mathrubhumi News that the state government should take necessary precautions in view of this prediction.

Considering the statistics of the last 10 years, the chances of flood is only increasing. It can be expected this year also. The government should be prepared to face it. Flood is expected not only this year, but in the coming years also. The prediction of rain will be made 2-3 days prior to the onset, Dr M Rajeevan said.

Rainfall is likely to be similar to last year. High quantity of rainfall will occur during June to September. The government should be cautious regarding evacuation of people and opening of dams. People should be alerted at right time during these steps, he made it clear.
