Flash strike: 50 KSRTC employees to be booked
Thiruvananthapuram: Police registered a case against the KSRTC staff who interrupted traffic by abandoning buses on road during the flash strike here on Wednesday. The case was registered under Essential Service Maintenance Act (ESMA). It is learnt that over 50 KSRTC staff will be booked.
Public transport system comes under ESMA. Hence, the case was registered for observing flash strike by violating the act and interrupting the traffic by leaving buses on the middle of the road.
During the flash strike, a passenger named Surendran from Kadakampally collapsed and died. Five KSRTC employees were booked for attacking police and interrupting their duty. Among them, three were arrested and it led to flash strike. ATO Jacob Sam Lopez, Inspector B Rajendran and driver K Suresh Kumar were arrested for attacking the police. Apart from them, police booked two others in the case.
Surendran fainted and died after getting stranded in the bus station following the flash strike. Police observed that the illegal strike resulted in the death of the passenger. Hence, police registered a case of unnatural death. KSRTC employees will be named as accused in the case.
