Flag hoisting goes wrong in Pathanamthitta, Govt orders probe

Pathanamthitta: A probe has been ordered over the flag hoisting incident here on Monday. It is reported that the flag hoisted by Health Minister Veena George didn’t unfurl during the Independence day celebrations held at the district stadium here.

Though the minister hoisted the national flag, it didn’t unfurl. It is hinted that flag hoisting went wrong as the ropes used for tying flowers inside the flag got tangled together. The flag was lowered to fix the issue.

The flag hoisting was completed later after removing flowers and ropes. But this time, a police official hoisted the flag instead of the minister.

Similar incidents are reported from various parts of the country during Independence Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, the state government has ordered a probe and asked the police department to submit a report on the incident.
