Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala stated that the Centre should correct their vaccine policy and provide free Covid vaccine for all people.
The people are experiencing the consequence of central government’s inactiveness even after getting warnings about oxygen shortage. Any government’s basic duty is to protect its people during a crisis. But the central government did not fulfil the duty and let the pharmaceutical companies rob the people, Chennithala alleged.
Fixing three different prices for same vaccine is a crazy action which will result in inequality in the society. The vaccine which is given for Rs 150 to the Centre is sold for Rs 400 to the states and for Rs 600 for private hospitals. What policy is this, Chennithala asked.
When complaints arose regarding vaccine distribution and shortage, the central government put the blame on the states. The Centre received warning about the second wave of Covid, but they did nothing to ensure oxygen supply. It is a grave mistake. No citizen should be deprived of the right to treatment, he added.
