Five KSRTC staffers face suspension for drunken and rash driving, ticket fraud

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has taken disciplinary action against five employees for drunken driving, ticket fraud, and other charges.

Drivers AR Jayarajan and Aji Unnikrishnan face suspension for drunken driving and causing an accident. The accident involving Jayarajan happened on March 20 while he was on duty on a bus service between Coimbatore and Mananthavady. Aji Unnikrishnan allegedly caused an accident on March 19 near Kuttippuram.

Driver S Mariappan was also suspended for allegedly causing an accident. His bus rammed into two cars and left three bike riders injured.

KA Kunju Muhammed, a bus conductor at Thrissur depot, faced action for not returning the balance amount of tickets issued to passengers. He also reportedly charged higher rates and did not issue tickets. Further, Rs 1,342 of unaccounted money was also seized from his bag.

Meanwhile, Viju K Nair, a bus conductor at Kottayam depot, was suspended for allegedly levelling baseless allegations against CMD and other senior KSRTC officials. He disseminated them through WhatsApp.
