Kochi: Police took five people into custody for the cyberattack against Dr Jo Joseph, LDF candidate in the Thrikkakara by-election. Palakkad Amayoor native and an office-bearer of Congress, Shukkoor is among two arrests recorded.

They allegedly circulated fake videos in Joseph's name through social media accounts. The men in custody hail from different parts of the state. Among them, two, including the former office-bearer of Youth Congress, Sivadasan, were brought to Kochi. It was found that they deleted their accounts after circulating the video.

The case was registered based on the complaint filed by LDF Thrikkakara constituency secretary and CPM leader M Swaraj.

CM Pinarayi Vijayan harshly criticised the opposition for ‘engaging in below the belt strategies in Thrikkakara’ while inaugurating a public gathering at Kakkanad on Thursday.

Dr Daya Pascal, wife of Joseph, also condemned the matter saying cyberbullying has crossed all limits.
