Malappuram: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) has taken action in connection with the death of a class five student while crossing the road on Wednesday. The MVD has cancelled the licence of the drivers of the school bus and the goods auto. The department has also cancelled the fitness certificate of the school bus.

According to reports, the school bus did not follow the rule of having an attendant apart from the driver in the bus. Authorities found that the school bus had a faulty parking brake and speed governor. The tyre of the bus was also in bad condition. The fitness of the school bus was cancelled because of these reasons.

The authorities also inspected other buses of the school. The department has suggested taking strict action against the school authorities over lack of proper fitness of the school bus.

Tanur Nannambra SN UP School student Shafna Sherin (11) was hit by a goods auto while crossing the road after deboarding the bus. The incident took place at around 12:30 pm at Pandimuttam in Tanur.
