Fishing to resume in Alappuzha district from Thursday under odd-even scheme

Fisherfolk belonging to containment zones must not venture into the sea.

Alappuzha: Permission has been granted to resume fishing in the district with conditions from August 13 (Thursday). Fishing has been allowed between 6 am and 12 pm.

A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority chaired by Collector A Alexander and district panchayat president G. Venugopal.

Boats can be taken into the sea only based on an odd-even scheme according to their registration number. The boats should leave for fishing only from Valanjavazhi, Anchalumkavu and Valiazheekal landing centres. Fisherfolk belonging to containment zones must not venture into the sea.

Boats must take cards from Malsya Bhavan before venturing into the sea. Cards will be granted once registration details of the boat and name, number and Aadhaar cards of the fisherfolk are submitted at the Malsya Bhavan.

Registration and distribution of cards for fishermen will be held at Kuntala (Thottappally) Matsya Bhavan, Ambalapuzha Matsya Bhavan and Tharayilkadavu Matsyafed cluster office from 10 am to 4 pm.
