Thiruvananthapuram: Majority of the beneficiaries under fishermen welfare scheme have not received the pension arrears, which the state government assured to dispense as ‘Vishu Kaineettam’. The Fishermen Welfare Board has claimed that the technical glitches of the server have disrupted distribution of the pension arrears for the past two months.

The finance department has already handed over Rs 22 crore to the board via Kerala Social Security Pension Limited. Though the state government directed the board to give away pensions from April 10, the board could not transfer the pension amounts to many of the beneficiaries yet. The pension has to be distributed among a total of 68,911 beneficiaries.

The officials in the board have assured to rectify the issues in pension distribution by Thursday.
