Harippad: The Alappuzha district-level committee has approved the first list of traders and displaced individuals who will lose their livelihood due to land acquisition as part of the widening of National Highway.
The committee chaired by the Collector on Thursday considered the list of beneficiaries of the packages from Thuravoor to Paravur(Alappuzha) and Kottukulangara(Kayamkulam) to Ochira. The committee has directed officials to take action on including eligible beneficiaries who were excluded from the list.
Additionally, the list of beneficiaries for the package from Paravur to Kottukulangara will be published mid-July. Once this is complete, the final list will be considered by the district-level committee after listening to complaints from the public.
Families who hand over their properties and lands will get compensation of Rs 2.36 lakh. Meanwhile, compensation for traders ranges from Rs 25,000 to Rs 75,000.
According to the first list, there are 87 families to be evicted. Of these, 57 are in Cherthala taluk. There are 11 houses in Ambalapuzha taluk and 19 in Karthikapally.
At the same time, 1045 traders will be eligible for compensation. Further, those running shops on buildings leased will not be eligible for compensation. A total of 398 traders in Ambalapuzha taluk and 469 in Cherthala will receive compensation.
