First instalment of deducted salary of Govt staff to be given back this month
Thiruvananthapuram: Finance minister Dr Thomas Isaac said that the first instalment of the amount which was cut from the salary of the government employees during the beginning of Covid outbreak last year will be refunded in May.
If the employees are willing, this amount can be contributed to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF). They have to give a consent letter for this purpose. The salary of a month was cut due to the Covid crisis. This will be given back in five instalments.
First, it was decided to disburse the first instalment in May along with the salary of April. However, the amount will not be given along with salary but only later due to the delay in software updation. The NGO union had requested to arrange the facility for contributing to the amount to CMDRF in instalments.
The officials who are in charge of the salary disbursement should examine the consent letters and cut the instalments mentioned in it and pay the same to CMDRF.
