Fire and rescue official in operation
Kannur: Fire engulfed a wholesale electronic centre near Old Bus stand here on Thursday morning.
The incident happened at Mahadeva Marketing around 1:30 AM. According to reports, the three-shuttered centre was fully engulfed by fire. The incident came to light when guest workers residing in the floor above the centre noticed the mishap.
The workers intimated fire and rescue personnel who intervened to prevent the fire spreading to other shops in the apparently crowded building in the busy street.
Three units from Kannur fire station were rushed, while another unit from Kuthuparamba also reached the spot.
The cause of fire and estimate on loss remain unknown. It is learnt that the centre had large quantity of stock.
