Fire at SP Fort hosptial
Thiruvananthapuram: A fire broke out at SP Fort hospital here on Thursday. The fire broke out from the canteen of the hospital. As it could be extinguished immediately, a huge disaster could be evaded. The incident took place at 9.30 am.
Though the fire did not spread to the interior of the hospital, smoke emitted and the patients and bystanders panicked. There were 22 patients in the ICU. As fire broke out, 11 patients were shifted to SP West Fort hospital.
The canteen was totally damaged in the mishap. Fire Force personnel shifted the gas cylinders in the canteen to avoid them catching fire.
Newly elected minister Antony Raju visited the hospital on knowing about the incident. He made it clear that the situation is under control and that nobody was injured. He also said that patients were shifted to another hospital for safety.
