Kozhikode: In a shocking incident, 11 Mercedes-Benz cars were destroyed inside a workshop following a fire accident in the wee hours on Saturday. The fire broke out around 6.15 am at the workshop in Kunnamangalam here. Vellimadukunnu native Jophy is the owner of the workshop named Emirates Motors.
Natives informed Kunnamangalam police after finding smoke and fire coming out from the workshop. The workshop owner also rushed to the spot when informed by the natives.
The workshop was opened with the help of police and two cars were safely taken out of the workshop.
Unfortunately, other cars were engulfed in flames. Tools and almirah inside the workshop were also destroyed.
Two units of fire force reached the spot to douse the fire. It is assumed that a short circuit inside one of the cars led to the fire accident.
Police have registered a case on the accident.
