Palakkad man places his kidney for sale to overcome financial trouble

Malappuram: Financial struggles forced a 55-year-old man to place his kidney up for sale. Saji, a Cherpulassery native, has decided to sell his kidney to pay off Rs 11 lakh debt.

To do so, he put up posters in public spaces in Perinthalamanna. The poster mentions the sale of O+ kidney.

Saji, a building painter for the past 42 years, has been living in a rented house for 26 years. He spends lakhs treating his mother affected with heart-related ailments. Nearly one and half years ago, he bought 10 cents of land using his money and from borrowed money. Later, he built a small house here with asbestos sheets. However, Saji is struggling to pay the money he borrowed from others.

Saji's two children have completed degree education. However, they earn meagre to support the family. Saji says he could not find a job for at least five days a month after the demonetisation and Covid-19 pandemic. Unable to find a solution, Saji has decided to sell his kidney.
