Financial crisis: KSRTC staff to get delayed salary
Thiruvananthapuram: Amid the financial crisis in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), salary to the staff for the month of February will be delayed. It is observed that KSRTC faced serious loss in daily revenue following the Sabarimala pilgrimage season. The daily revenue which crossed Rs 6.5 crore has fallen below Rs 6 crore.
To counter the financial crisis, the government has allotted Rs 20 cr as monthly aid to KSRTC. With this additional fund, KSRTC reserves touched Rs 45 crore. But KSRTC needs Rs 30 crore more to complete distribution of salary. Hence, the corporation has submitted a request seeking an additional fund of Rs 20 crore from the government.
KSRTC hopes that if the government sanctions the fund, salary distribution will be carried out without any issue.
Rs 10 crore will be raised from the daily collection till March 7. But if the government refuses to sanction Rs 20 crore, KSRTC will land in trouble.
At the same time, the corporation also plans to distribute half salary to the staff. Usually, the daily collection will fall during exam season.
At present, KSRTC is operating service in 17 lakh kilometres with 46000 schedules. But the authority complains that the daily revenue is not increasing even after operating these services.
