Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala cabinet on Wednesday (May 31) decided to provide a financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the family of Dr Vandana Das, the medical professional who was killed by a patient while serving at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. The amount will be provided from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund.
Similarly, the family of Fire and Rescue officer JS Ranjith, who died in the line of duty, will also receive a financial aid of Rs 25 lakh from the Medical Services Corporation's fund. He lost his life while dousing fire at the corporation's warehouse in Kollam.

Furthermore, a one-time financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh will be granted to NK Shaibi, wife of Rajesh Kumar, who drowned in a water tank at the Kavalipuzha pump house under the Kaduthuruthy subdivision of the Kerala Water Authority. The water authority's own fund will provide this support to the grieving family. Rajesh was a temporary employee of the department.
