Battalion at School initiative to fight drug abuse

Kerala Police has initiated ‘Battalion at School’ initiative to counter drug abuse among the youngsters.

As part of it, the armed wing of the police are visiting schools to honour school authorities, students and teachers who support the movement against drug menace.

The objective is to spread the message Jeevithamanu Lahari (Life itself is drug).

The platoons under various armed police battalions in the state such as Special Armed Police (SAP), Kerala Armed Police (KAP) are part of it.

In October, excise officials during a raid at Thrissur found a diary containing details of customers, including 250 students.

Recently, the officials in Ernakulam seized ganja from a school security staffer. The excise maintained that the person had been involved in ganja sales.

Meanwhile, media reports suggest youngsters involved in drug cases are on the rise.

Kerala Police’s campaigns have been intensified at this juncture.
